Apple Crumble with
Hemp Heart and Oat Stureusel

Yeild – 1 crumble 

Ingredients:

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven to 350F. 
  2. In a small bowl, add the dates and water. Let soak. If you can do this the night prior (about 6-8 hours prior) to making this recipe, that is preferred but not necessary. 
  3. Wash, peel, and dice apples into 1/2 inc pieces. 
  4. Add apples to the bottom of the desired baking dish. 
  5. Add 1 tsp of apple pie spice and 1 tsp of cinnamon to the apples. Toss to coat all apples. 
  6. In a mixing bowl, add oats, almond flour, hemp hearts, remaining apple pie spice.
  7. Add the dates, water, and apple sauce to a food processor.
  8. Pulse and process this mixture until smooth (or as close as you can get it).
  9. Carefully use a spatula to scrape down the sides and lid regularly to ensure all chunks are processed. 
  10. Once the date and apple sauce mixture is done, carefully remove the blade of the food processor and put into the sink for washing. 
  11. Use a spatula to add the date mixture into the bowl with the hemp hearts and oats. 
  12. Use your hands or a spatula to mix the streusel mixture until combined and easily sticks together to make chunks. 
  13. Sprinkle various – sized crumbles streusel chunks on top of the apples in the baking dish until all the streusel topping has been used. 
  14. Bake, uncovered, for 35-40 minutes or until apples are soft and topping is browned and slighlty crispy on top.
  15. Serve warm or at room temperature and topped with whipped cream or your favorite ice cream.
